My name is Tosh Howard
I am 32 year of age and live in the Hyde Park area.
"I was brought up in the care system in a rural area where there was little to do, but it was one adult worker who made a real difference to my life , and I wanted to give something back"
"I started volunteering and I enjoyed it so much I decided to volunteer at the Manor Oaks Playscheme. I am giving myself as many skills as I can so that I can return to work when my son goes to full time school."
Being brought up in the care system there was one adult worker who made tha real difference to my life by giving me so much of her time. I know first hand what a difference that person made to my life so if I can do that for even one person by volunteering, it is worthwhile.
I have just passed my "special needs awarness" and "Super nanny" course and I am able to put all that training into practice when working with children, particulary at the playscheme as we provide places for children with special needs. It's something which Tracy says is one of my strengths.
I have gaied respect from the young people and parents in the community which makes me feel good inside. I feel that I am doing something that benefits others. I feel safer when I'm out and about because I now have a good relationship with the older lads.
