“I have always been active in the community and wanted to make a difference”
“I volunteered for the Wybourn and Skye Edge Youth Engagement Project which ran last year as a community researcher alongside nine other young people to carry out a large-scale piece of research into the issues affecting young people in the Manor Castle area”

Although I was due to have my second child I was really committed to the project, and even attended
a training residential, one week before the birth.
Following the birth I got straight back into the research planning sessions and then hit the streets last June for a month long period, talking to young people and finding out what they thought about the area they lived in. I went on to help plan a youth conference held in July at Wybourn Youth trust to launch the findings of the research. I co-facilitated the conference alongside peers and workers. During the last year I have worked with Wybourn Youth Trust on the volunteer project and have also signed up as a volunteer youth worker with Wybourn Youth Trust and continue to work alongside the development team at Manor & Castle Development Trust Ltd delivering local community activities. |
