Parents in the area had expressed concerns that there were no groups for parents with small children in the Skye Edge area
|

A parent and toddler group was set up during term time offering a variety of activities that change from week to week offering the children opportunities to engage in differing play and craft activities as well as providing a support group for parents.

The Group was set up in June 2005 and, following publicising the group through posters and flyers in
the Wybourn and Skye Edge area, we started with only two families attending but the numbers slowly started to grow and there are now regularly 28 people attending including children. Activities change each week and these include painting, play dough, sticking, drawing, as well as opportunities for children to explore different textures e.g. pasta, oats and spaghetti. We provide a wide range of other toys to suit all age ranges. A healthy snack and drink is provided at each session and parents now make their own drinks and some are beginning to help out at snack time. All parents and children help with tidying up at the end of the session before ending with singing time where parents and children sit together and sing nursery rhymes
