3. Principles of Care

  • The difference between health care and social care/support
  • Communication skills

4. Confidentiality:

  • Confidentiality, Freedom of information, Data Protection etc

5. Valuing Diversity:

  • Definition of diversity
  • Identifying Diverse Groups
  • Legislation
  • Organisational Response

6. Privacy, Dignity, Respect:

  • Definition of terms
  • Value base and belief systems

7. Personal Care:

  • Definition of Personal Care
  • Duties & Responsibilities
  • Practical Skill Building session

8. Protection of Vulnerable Groups

  • Safeguarding Children
  • Protection of Vulnerable Adults
  • Vulnerability in groups (mental health, disability, drug & alcohol misuse etc)

9. Health & Safety

  • Health & Safety at Work Act
  • Safe Work Place
  • Risk Assessment
  • Roles & Responsibilities

10. Maintaining Personal Safety

  • Definition of Conflict
  • Identify conflict situations and resolve them
  • How to keep yourself safe
