Oral Health
Oral Health Action Teams in several areas of the city have been working with Sheffield residents, community groups, schools and nurseries, pharmacies and health professionals to improve oral health and help people find an NHS dentist.
In Sheffield, over 40% of 5-year-old children already have tooth decay so it is really important to look after your teeth from a young age. By looking after your teeth and gums now, you can protect your smile for life.”
To keep your mouth healthy, brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and go to the dentist regularly, even if you wear false teeth. Cut down on sugary foods and drinks and keep them to mealtimes. Choose safer snacks like toast, fruit and vegetables, and milk and water to drink. Do not use tobacco and follow safe limits on alcohol consumption.
There are many dentists in Sheffield welcoming new NHS patients. To find out where you and your family can go, contact the NHS Sheffield Dental Helpline on 0114 305 1510.
