23rd April 2008: Health Interest Group meeting

On 22 April 2008 a Health Interest Group meeting  hosted by  Manor & Castle Development Trust together with Sheffield Primary Care Trust  which was held at Norfolk House, Stafford Lane and was open to local people and heath professionals to attend.

The focus of this meeting was around looking at obesity. Sarah Hepworth who is the PCT Health Improvement Practitioner Specialist gave a presentation on obesity and overweight which covered the causes of obesity, health consequences, cost of obesity, benefits of change and the Government Strategy.

A number of smaller working groups then looked at how to address the problem of obesity in a way that adds value to what is currently being delivered in the area. A comprehensive amount of information was obtained and this will be assessed in more detail to look at options.
