19th May 2008: Get Walking, Keep Walking Programme
This is an exciting new urban walking project which has been developed by the Ramblers Association for people who usually don’t walk very far.
This programme aims to increase regular independent walking and make a big contribution towards increasing physical and mental well being. It is a 12 week walking programme which includes the following:
- A Welcome to Walking session with tips and advice on how to get the most out of walking.
- A series of easy led fact finding walks and other activities.
- Support from local Walk Ambassadors.
- 12 week plan.
- Information and advice helping people to keep walking.
The programme is aimed at adults in groups of 10 or more who want to build up their fitness levels and confidence. The course starts with leisurely 20 minute easy walks and then build ups according to the needs of the group.
