Skye Edge & Wybourn Pensioners Group
Luncheon club which runs every
Tuesday in the Skye Edge
Community Centre

There are a lot of older residents caring for loved ones who don’t have the chance to get out and meet people and can become quite isolated
The Lunch Club was set up 3 years ago to benefit the older community of the Wybourn and Skye Edge area. Residents can attend and have a hot and nutritious meal and a game of bingo

The club now has about 20 members and they have all become very close and not only cook the food at
home to bring into the centre, they fundraise to enable them to go on trips and outings. A much loved one is the pub lunches in the countryside.
Being part of a group like this gives them much needed support and adult conversation which for some is the only conversation they might have all week. They always have a special lunch when it is someone's birthday with a cake and maybe a glass of wine.
They have also started a savings club which they pay into each week ready for Christmas shopping. As
well as a book club which raises money for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.
Many of the members help out at local events and really love working with the children and young people, which helps to break down some of the barriers and perceptions that each generation holds
