My name is Karine Ball
I am a key Support worker for MCDT. I am 45, married to Dave and have two children, Eleanor and David and live in the local area.
"My involvement with the community began by taking courses at MaTReC (My local community learning centre). This progressed from a computer course into book keeping and office skills and retaking my maths GCSE whilst my children wee at school."
"By gaining these new skills and qualifications I was able to apply for a clerical position at Workbase, which resulted in me becoming an advisor, supporting people into work."
Following my role as an advisor at Workbase I worked on pilot project to help people with additional barriers. This led to my employment at Manor & Castle Development Trut in my current role as Key Support Worker for the Progress Together Approach in South Yorkshire.
This new project provides support for people facing difficulties gaining employment covering Manor, Manor Park, Wybourn, Skye Edge, Arbourthorne, Norfolk Park and Gleadless Valley. We have two offices and Key Support Workers doing outreach work.
I am well aware of the difficulties faced by people wanting to change their circumstances, as I myself worked my way up by gaining new qualifications and skills and working with people in the community in a community setting. I feel really proud to be giving something back.
