My name is John Cope
I am 43 years of age and live in the Hyde Park area.
"Whilst off work with an arm injury awaiting an operation. I choose to volunteer at the local club for a number of reasons; To keep active, to get to know the local youths and to make new friends. knowing Tracy Brown made it a little easir."
Over the last 15 years Youth Clubs and Centres have closed down and we see kids hanging around on the streets. They often get into bother through boredom, so a Youth Club can make a lot of difference to their lives and the community.
Whilst volunteering I've built relationships with these young people and I callenge negative attitudes and behaviours.
Volunteering at the Youth Club has been like a teaster course for me. if my operation is unsuccessful and I can no longer do manual labour I will definitely go down this route. I am so glad I tried it, because I would never known that I had the skills or even the enjoyment to look at this type of careeer.
"I began volunteering in January 2008 for two hours twice per week. I plan and deliver sessions at the Youth CLub, encourage the Children to get involved in play, and support the team with general duties."
