“I started attending some of the local groups with my older children and then attending pilates and swimming while I was pregnant and have made lots of new friends.”
I am now involved in the running of Sure Start as a member of the Partnership board. I really enjoy representing the views of parents in the Woodthorpe and Wybourn area. I have learned many new skills (interviewing, committee skills etc.) and feel that my confidence has grown enormously. I have completed a number of training courses which have helped to expand my horizons as far as career choice and I would ultimately like to work in the community. One of the courses was to become a breast feeding peer supporter, and I now help to run the breast feeding drop in at the Woodthorpe centre.
