Relay for Life
Manor & Castle Development Trust worked with local community to organise their second Relay for Life event which took play on the 18th and 19 July 2009..
The event really relies on Manor and Castle community to pull together, pull out all the stops and make it a real success.
Relay for Life is a fundraising event for Cancer Research UK which requires teams to walk a relay course 24 hours.
July 2009 saw the second event organised by Manor & Castle Development Trust and the local community. Beating the previous year's total of over £10,000 was our target, which we smashed by over £3,000! It was all thanks to the 38 people who took part and the 50 volunteers who helped organise it. The committee were all volunteers from the local community, which proved to be a great success.
The ruls state that the event can only be chaired by one organisation for 2 years so MCDT are now looking for someone to continue the good work into 2010. If you are intrested please contact Diane Cairns on 0114 252 1072
