My name is Naathan Forbes

and i have a son called Tyler.

"I  attended the Get Involved Men's Group at woodthorpe Children's Centre to learn parenting skills so I could be involved in my child's upbringing."

I am now able to see Tyler as the woodthorpe Children's Centre have provided a safe place for us to be together, reqularly and I am hoping to volunteer for the centre and give my time to a worthwhile cause.

I moved to Sheffield in 2006 after most of my life in care homes and moved into my own flat aged 17, with little support from anyone.  My partner and I discovered we were having a baby but although we were happy at first we eventually separated.  When Tyler was born I sought legal adivce to enable me to see my son.  They advised me to get parenting skills to help.

I felt welcome the minute I joined the Get Involved Men's Group. I attended a cook and eat group run by SureStart and learnt about positive thinking and how the mind works and processes information which leads to life changing decisions.

Not only have I attended the group weekly, I have offered my time to promote the group as I feel other men should be encouraged and have a chance to be involved in their children's lives.
